Klear 4-1/2"x 9-7/8" 1 Micron Melt Blown Polypropylene Sediment Filter is a Graded Density, Multi-Layered, Melt Blown Sediment Filter Cartridge. Larger particles are trapped in the outer layers, smaller particles penetrate deeper. Superior dirt holding ability and longer life than non-layered cartridges. This filter has thermally bonded polypropylene micro fibers for purity and chemical compatibility, and contains no binders, agents, solvents, antistatic materials or wetting agents.

Don't let price fool you.
As a whole house filter, these 1 micron filters easily pass more volume than we can use... right up to the point where they should be changed. Our well produces way to much sand and silt sediments which are efficiently captured by 1 micron filter; a critical prerequisite to attaining long life from water softener resin and control valves. A note of caution however... their spun design draws particulates very deep into filter core (I cut a used one in half to see for myself; grey particulates throughout) which is helpful for preventing pressure drop and if kept in service to long some fine particulates will enter water stream. For a no worry system, monitor and change regularly. For the price, these sediment filters do an excellent job.
